Setting Up the TrifiBoost WiFi Extender
1. Wireless Repeater Mode
In Repeater mode, the extender captures and amplifies the existing wireless signal to broaden your network’s reach. This mode can be set up using either the WPS button or a web browser.
WPS Setup Instructions:
- Set the mode switch on the TrifiBoost extender to “Repeater.”
- Plug the device into a wall socket.
- Press and hold the WPS button on the extender for around 6 seconds.
- Then, press the WPS button on your router for 2–3 seconds.
- The extender should connect to the router automatically.
Note: The repeater will use the same WiFi password as your primary router. If your router doesn’t support WPS, use the browser-based method instead.
Web Browser or Wired Setup:
- Ensure the mode switch is set to “Repeater” and place the extender near your router.
- Connect your computer to the extender via WiFi (TrifiBoost_2.4G or TrifiBoost_5G) or an Ethernet (RJ45) cable.
- Open a browser and visit http://ap.setup or enter 192.168.10.1 in the address bar.
- When prompted, log in using the default username and password: admin.
- Choose your home WiFi network from the list, enter the network password, and click "Connect."
- The extender will reboot and be ready for use. You can now connect your devices to the new TrifiBoost network.
2. Access Point (AP) Mode
AP mode allows the extender to convert a wired internet connection into a wireless signal. This is useful when you have access to a LAN port but no WiFi coverage in a particular area.
AP Mode Setup Steps:
- Move the mode selector to “Access Point.”
- Plug the extender into a power outlet.
- Connect your PC or laptop to the extender’s network.
- Open a browser and go to http://ap.setup.
- Use the default login credentials (username and password are both admin).
- Set the time zone, create a new admin password, and customize your wireless settings.
- The extender will finish setting up and act as a new WiFi access point.
3. Router Mode
If you don’t have a wireless router and instead use a modem (such as an ADSL modem provided by your internet provider), you can use the TrifiBoost extender as a standalone router.
Router Mode Setup Instructions:
- Switch the mode selector to “Router” and power on the device.
- Use an RJ45 cable to connect the modem to the extender.
- On your computer, connect to the TrifiBoost WiFi network.
- Open a web browser and navigate to http://ap.setup.
- Log in using the default password admin, and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the router configuration.
